Biography

FNIM., FWAPCNM., FIPMD., MNASOW., MIASSW Pioneering and Immediate Past Head, Department of Social Work, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos, Nigeria. I have varied and enriched training in Biological, Mental and Social sciences, with certification in Journalism and Professional Writing, Salesmanship, Sales Marketing, Sales Management. I had diplomas in Social Development and Administration, General Nursing, Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing with current license to practise, I bagged a PhD in Sociology with research bias in Gender Studies and Domestic Violence and Social work. I also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. I completed a post-doc research work in gerontology and bio-geriatrics at the University of North Texas, Denton, USA. Research Interests: Medical Sociology, Health/Medical Social Work, Comparative Social Policy, Mental Health and Psychiatry, Gerontology and Geriatrics. Socio-economic and Health Impact Assessment are other areas that cut my curiosity. I have over 50 publications in learned peer-reviewed national and international journals and outlets. I have attended and presented over 70 scientific papers in national and international conferences. I review for many national and international journals and examiners in many national and international universities for postgraduate work and professorial assessments. Former Sub Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, UNILAG, Former Coordinator and Chairman, Departmental Postgraduate Committee, UNILAG. Member of many University Committees including Business Committee of Senate (BCOS) and Ceremony Committee at the University of Lagos, Akoka Yaba Nigeria. Editor-in-Chief, West African Journal of Nursing, on board since 1988, an International leading peer-reviewed Journal in nursing and healthcare matters. Managing Officer, Journal of Society, Development and Public Health, an academic multidisciplinary and Inter-disciplinary peer-reviewed journal anchored by the Department of Sociology, University of Lagos, Nigeria. Appointed the first and pioneering Head, Department of Social Work, University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria- August 1, 2018 -July 31, 2021.
